Samsung’s Unpacked Event: What to Expect From it

Samsung's Unpacked Event

The traditional summer launch event for Samsung is almost approaching. The August Galaxy Unpacked event will occur on August 10 at 9 a.m. ET, one year and one day after last year’s foldable-focused event. And, if reports are correct, we may expect a similar slew of announcements, including a pair of foldable — the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 — a new array of smartwatches with the Galaxy Watch 5, and even some new earbuds. So, here we will discuss what to expect in this Samsung Unpacked Event.

We know there will be foldable since Samsung teased them in promotional pictures and an official video for the August 10 launch. Samsung’s smartphone head teased a “new Samsung Galaxy foldable” in a blog post about the unveiling. The sheer volume of Watch 5 leaks also makes us believe it will be revealed soon. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, a new set of truly wireless earbuds, were also announced last year, and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is expected to be released this year. We saw some renderings earlier this month, and a large last-minute leak suggests they’re ready for the event itself.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will resemble the Fold 3 from last year, with a few design tweaks here and there. The current Fold 3 starts at $1800 and has a 6.2-inch front cover display and a 7.6-inch internal folding display. However, while the design of Fold 4 will be identical to the present model, this year’s model will have various alterations. According to rumors, the Fold 4’s cover display will have a slightly larger aspect ratio, a beefier Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 engine beneath the hood, and enhanced cameras, similar to the Galaxy S22 and S22+.

Yes, the Fold 4 will include an under-display, which will allegedly be 4MP in quality. With Google releasing Android 12L this year focused on large-screen smartphones, we expect improved software and a less disconnected software experience on the Fold 4.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

Minor updates are expected for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The next-generation clamshell-style folding phone will retain a two-tone design on the back, along with a set of twin cameras and a bigger cover screen. Leaked images of the smartphone appear to feature a less apparent wrinkle where the internal screen splits in half. According to rumors, the phone will be available in various colors. We’ll have to wait and see the features and cost, but the Flip 4 will not be cheap.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro

We may also see a new generation of smartwatches at Samsung’s Unpacked presentation on Wednesday. According to Bloomberg and other news sites, we’ll see three Galaxy Watch 5 variants this year, one of which will be a ‘Pro’ version. The wristwatch, which is expected to be dubbed the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, will have a high-end aesthetic with a titanium shell, a more durable construction, a bigger display, and an LTE connection. The Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will not have a real rotating bezel. WearOS 3 will continue to be used by both smartwatches.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Buds Pro 2 premium wireless earphones are also rumored to be in the works for 2022. While nothing is known about them, Samsung has to produce a high-end TWS before Apple’s rumored AirPods Pro 2. According to reports, the Buds Pro 2 will include a new design, better active noise cancellation, IPX7 waterproofing, 10mm drivers, 360-degree audio, Bluetooth 5.3, and an eight-hour battery backup on a single charge that can be extended to 29 hours with the case.

These earphones are anticipated to be more expensive than the Buds 2. Of course, we won’t know for sure until August 10, but it sounds like we’re in for a jam-packed schedule.
