After initial rumors of the show being canceled for good, fans can now take a deep breath with new information on season 2 of Netflix comedy Space Force doing the rounds in public domains. Here is everything you need to know:
Space Force: What is it, and who is part of it?
Space Force is a comedy series that first started airing on Netflix on the 29th of May 2020. The series became instantly popular amongst fans since it featured Steve Carell of The Office fame. Apart from him, it also has Lisa Kudrow playing the part of Maggie Naird, John Malcovich as Dr. Adrian Mallory, Diana Silvers as Erin Naird, and many other stars that the fans are familiar with. Steve Carell created the series alongside Greg Daniels, who is also popular for being a part of The Office and Parks and Recreation.
The series is yet another workplace comedy-drama with Steve Carell playing the part of the general of Space Force, the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces. The series follows him and his team’s efforts to get “boots on the moon” by the year 2024 and the hilarious events that occur while they are at it. It is said to have drawn inspiration from Donald Trump’s initiative of the same name.
With the Coronavirus situation putting a stop to the production of many a TV show, we do not yet know the exact date on which the next season would premiere. While the assurance of a new season on itself is a great relief to a lot of us, fans have already begun to analyze what to expect in the next installment of Space Force.
Space Force 2: what to expect?
The production of Space Force 2 will begin in 2021 and is set to take place in Vancouver, Canada. With Space Force 2, we already know that the majority (if not all) of the cast will return if all goes according to plan. Apart from that, we can expect some of the plotlines from the previous season to take off where we last saw them end. This would be the only logical way to set the premise for season 2 as the fans would expect the closure to a lot of things that they saw happen in season 1.
What would make the show a success is if it sets up a premise strong enough, it would have the potential to establish a storyline that could unfold over multiple seasons. This would be best for a series like this that is taken to be the love-child of every other workplace comedy that the cast and crew have worked on. The cast already has a fandom strong enough to carry the show through the seasons, and the only thing the makers have to get right at this point is a premise that has enough substance to do justice to the initial idea of the show.
Knowing the makers and taking a look at their previous work, we know that this is not a very far-fetched goal. However, how this would work for a streaming platform like Netflix is something to be considered. All this said and done, Season 2 of Space Force is something that a lot of fans are looking forward to, especially to see the cast return – if not for anything else. Will the next season air in time to fulfill all of these workplace comedy dreams? We will have to wait to find out!
