Ever since the latest season of The Haunting series dropped this year, fans have been badgering makers for more anthologies and work that at least closely resemble one. 2021 would be an excellent year for those of us that are part of this group with the drop of the next season of the very popular American Horror Story!
American Horror Story is a series that has been in the game for a long time now and has managed to establish a loyal fan base around the globe. The series, which first aired in 2011, is one of the biggest and most popular names in the anthology genre. After a brief period of inaction, AHS season 10 is set to drop in 2021. While the exact date of release has not been announced, fans speculate a September release for this series.
The cast for American Horror Story consists of Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. Macaulay Culkin will also be seen in the new season as a new addition to the cast. Created by Ryan Murphy, who is famous for his other works like Glee, Pose, and The Politician, AHS is one of those series that is still exciting to fans after all these years. Murphy has co-written the series alongside Brad Falchuk, who has previously worked with him on many other projects.
Since the plot and theme of AHS change season to season, it would be hard for fans to guess what the new installment has in store for them. Nonetheless, we know that the makers will try and stick to the style, aesthetic, and speed of the last 9 AHS season and try to deliver what the fans love most about the series – a sense of eeriness creeps upon them in the best way possible. Murphy, being the tease he is, earlier posted a picture of a set of teeth on social media, part of the caption to which said that it was a clue to the next season’s theme. The teaser poster of the new season featured what looked like an ocean. If fans had guessed it right, the next plotline could revolve around water bodies, suggesting sea creatures and monsters set to make an appearance. Whether this is true or not is completely out of the question for fans as they seem to be having a ton of fun guessing what the storyline would be.
While Murphy said that the 9th season of AHS was inspired by slasher films like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween, we can guess that season 10 will take a much more mystical note and would waddle towards a more classic take on the word “horror.” Some fans of series like The Haunting have recently begun complaining about the presence of unwanted scare tactics employed in AHS. Still, some others argue that it is indeed important to provide the fans with the “horror experience” in its entirety. If the makers had taken the fans’ suggestions, we can potentially see the new season heading towards a kind of horror that could be described as creepy than scary.
The last nine seasons of American Horror Story are currently streaming on Disney Hotstar+, and come September 2021, we could catch a glimpse of what season 10 is all about!
