Last Night in Soho: what is it and who is involved?
As mentioned earlier, the movie is a psychological horror film that is being directed by Edgar Wright, who is best known for his film Baby Driver. Working Title Films are producing the film, and Focus Features with a screenplay by Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns of 1917 fame.
The premise is centered around a young girl who wants to pursue fashion design on a professional scale. Due to mysterious consequences, she lands up in London in the 1960s. There, she finally gets to meet her icon – a glamorous and charismatic singer who manages to sweep her off her feet. All is well, from the looks of it, right? Wrong! The era is really not what she makes it up to be, and she now has to deal with the potentially shady consequences of her actions – ones that are not in her control!
The cast consists of Anya Taylor-Joy as Sandy, Diana Rigg as Miss Collins, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie as Eloise, and Jessie Mei Li as Lara. As you can see, the cast is a mix of both popular and obscure faces, and this might come as a boon to the film as it might add an extra dimension of character to the already established environment. The film was originally set to premiere on the 25th of September 2020 but had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus crisis. The film’s new release date was announced to be the 23rd of April 2021, with there being no further postponement that we have been made aware of. This means that the movie will indeed arrive on the new date if everything goes according to plan.
There are many horror films scheduled for release in 2021, the most famous amongst them being Halloween Kills.
